What is the difference between an Indian resume and a UAE or Gulf CV?
A Gulf CV expects the personal details an Indian resume deliberately leaves out: a passport-style photo, your nationality, and a visa status line such as "Employment Visa, Transferable". Indian MNC and IT applications skip photos and personal data entirely. Length is similar, 1 to 2 pages, and both markets screen every application with ATS keyword filters.

The differences that actually get applications rejected
Photo and personal details. Indian MNC and IT recruiters do not want a photo, and private-sector resumes should also skip date of birth and father's name; only government and PSU applications still ask for them. Gulf employers expect the opposite: a passport-style photo on a white background, plus nationality and date of birth stated clearly. Send an Indian-style resume to Dubai and it looks incomplete; send a photo CV to an Indian MNC and it looks outdated.
The visa status line. A Gulf CV carries one line an Indian resume never has: your visa status. Recruiters shortlist on whether you can start, so state it plainly near the top, for example "Employment Visa, Transferable" or "Visit Visa, valid until a stated date". Leave it out and the recruiter has to guess, and candidates who make recruiters guess rarely get the call.
Biodata is fading. The old GCC biodata format, with religion, full passport data and long personal tables, is disappearing. The 2026 norm is a clean, ATS-friendly CV in reverse-chronological order plus exactly three additions: photo, nationality and visa line. Copying a decade-old biodata template signals that you have not applied in the region recently.
ATS on both sides. Both markets filter by keywords before a human reads anything. In India that means Naukri, LinkedIn and MNC career portals; in the Gulf, Bayt, NaukriGulf and LinkedIn screen your CV the moment you upload it.
